How do dog identification tags attach to my dog's collar?We include an attachment with each tag for no additional charge. We have two styles of attachments; split ring and 'S' hook. The split ring resembles a small key ring and comes standard on all plastic tags. The 'S' hook comes standard with each stainless steel tag. It requires the use of pliers to crimp into place. If you prefer the split ring and are buying a stainless tag (or visa-versa), please specify your choice in the special notes section when placing your order. Click Here to view all of the tag options or to place an order. We offer three sizes, small medium and large. Our small size is suitable for animals up to 16 pounds. Medium is recommended for 17 to 25 pounds. Our large size is for animals 26 pounds and over. We also offer seven different shapes; heart, round, star, rectangle, bone, bow-tie and hydrant. The plastic option is also available in eight different colors; blue, red, green, black, orange, white, pink and purple. We use 3M™ Scotchlite™ reflective coating. This color matched coating, applied to the non-engraved side of the tag, is not apparent until it becomes highly reflective in dangerous low-light conditions. Colored aluminum is a material used by some other companies. The color on these can wear off quickly and it may become difficult to read. Aluminum is the material most often used for license and vaccination name plates because it is less expensive than plastic or stainless steel. However, these are typically replaced every year. The tag does no good if it is unreadable. Our tags are guaranteed for the life of the pet. If it should wear out or break you may contact us for a free replacement. If you pet tends to chew on their tags, we recommend that you stick with the solid stainless steel instead of plastic. If you do not like the noise that metal tags make, next to other license or vaccination tags on your pet's collar, then we recommend plastic. Get an extra tag or two for your luggage, kid's back pack, keys, etc. They also make great gifts. An attachment ring is included with each tag.
